Lock Refurbishment

I was recently contacted by a couple from Devon, who were looking to transform their tired heritage locks, to fit in with the restoration of their country property.

When i received the locks, I knew there was going to be some real work ahead, but it’s a part of the job i relish! After carefully taking the locks apart, i revealed over a hundred years worth of dirt and grime, clogging up the mechanism.

Lots of cleaning, polishing, de-greasing and handcrafting replacement parts took place and soon the locks were coming back to life. One of the locks also required a key, as it had been lost long ago, so this was hand-cut and then aged for an authentic look. Then it was time for the final flourish – a new coat of paint.

The results were great – another job well done!

I can’t wait for the client to send pictures of the locks back in-situ.
